Rubrics for Assessment in the Arts

These are the rubrics that I'm using for my courses this semester. So far, I've been mixing and matching them based on what I'm assessing.

Elements of Music

Techniques and Technology

Music and Society

Skills and Personal Growth

Connections Beyond the Classroom

Theory and Terminology

Characteristics and Development of Music

Conventions and Responsible Practices

  1. Hi Amanda,
Perhaps you might want to move away from traditional rubrics and use ONE-POINT rubrics ... I find they certainly show students WHAT they did well (successes) and where improvements can be made (areas to work on)

    1. It's funny you mention that, I've been looking into one-point rubrics, and am hoping to try them out later on in the semester! Selfishly, I wanted to remain comfortable with traditional rubrics, but can see how a shift may need to happen.

  2. Amazing stuff Amanda! I've tried gradeless in my classes for a while now, but am really inspired by your process and design. Also, one-point rubrics I find are AMAZING! (Or holistic rubrics as they are also called). These are great to build with the kids. What is the target goal in the centre, and how can we expand our learning in the exceeding expectations column. Students know what it takes! Thanks for sharing:-)
